Having trouble finding steel shim head gaskets for big blocks. The Mr. Gasket version has some kind of clear coating that looks irregular, and Mopar Performance gaskets are crazy expensive. Has anyone used the Superformance brand?
I'm going through an original low mileage 383 with 906 heads. I have the heads torn down except for 3 intake valves that will not budge. Soaked with Aero Kroil, but no luck so far. Any ideas on how to get the valves out without destroying anything?
So I'm installing new axles with green bearings, rear diff has been apart for over 12 months. Just want to double check on the assembly sequence from the rear housing axle flange - steel shim type gasket, brake backing plate, foam gasket (seen thick paper ones here too) then bearing retainer...
I noticed something on several bore stroke charts. The 67/68 383 engines are listed with a 3.375 stroke, and in 69 it increased to 3.380. Is this right, or are some of these charts screwed up?
