1965 Dodge Coronet 440

My 65 Coronet. Had it a number of years and have restored it (very unoriginal) for about 3 years now. It is now Plum Crazy and yes I know a butt stripe doesn’t really belong on it, but I had to have it anyway. Please share your thoughts.

It is a Plum Crazy 1965 Dodge Coronet 440. It is equipped with a 440 CI engine with an Isky Cam and other goodies. Not much original on the car, so purists may not like it. I wanted the car to be my way. All new Interior, vinyl roof, Aluminum heads, motor completely gone through, Willwood disc brakes on all four corners and Just a fun fast ride. It is a retired Dragger and won lots of races (before I owned it). My sons and I did most of the work but sent it out to get painted and new interior installed. The car was gutted for frag racing before I got it, all emblems removed, seats removed even the frame of the deck lid removed to lighten her up. I can’t tell you how hard it is to find parts for a 65 Coronet, it is just not one of the traditional Mopar cars that guys like to restore, but I have always loved the 65’s. She took a ton of work and an embarrassing amount of money yo get her back to where she is now. Hope you guys enjoy, this is the second car I have restored but I did a lot more to this one than I did to my other mopar. I am not a mechanic, I am a backyard mechanic at best. But my sons and I worked through the problems and got a lot of advice from a lot of nice folks on this forum. So thank you for those bits of advice men.

Dude, LOVE IT!!! Who cares what the "purists" think. It's your car and your canvas to do what you envision it to be.
My 65 is what I would have done when I was a kid and had a model of it to paint and play with. It's not perfect but, it's mine.
Your car looks GREAT! Drive and show it with pride!:steering:

Bro thank you so much, I really appreciate what you said. I agree that cars should be as original as you can, but by God, when you work you tailbone off, it should be your way. We actually won a locals only car show. My sons and I were so proud. The judges told me that the original trailer queens are everywhere and that he was glad to see we put a little personality in it. Stay in touch

Lot of labor went in to it I can see and under stand the money thing. Did a grate job you and your son. Saved another one form the scrap yard. Good job men.

Thank you, worth doing especially when I think about the quality time my sons and I spent fixing it up and now driving and going to rod runs together. Appreciate the kind words

If THEY want to tell you what to do with your car, the price of advice would be them paying for the car. That outta shut them up. My 67 is in the same boat, your boat has way more money in the oars, tho'...Very nice

Thank you friend. I appreciate you said. The money will come and go, but the time with my son’s and the excitement we all felt the first time we cruised this beast the first time down our version of Main street will stick with me. Everyone in my town thinks my car is a Road Runner. I am glad to be on this forum where the men here know what they are looking at. I hope you have had as much fun with your ride as we are having. All hail Ma Mopar.

By the way, you have a badass ride.

Great interpretation. Cool color combo. I like your seats and wheels too. Personally, I'm not crazy about the black grill, but I see what you're going for. It's a great resto-mod, you and your son did an awesome job.

Thank you buddy, yea we are certainly not pros. But we enjoyed the whole process.

My65Coronet - that is a super nice coronet and you and your
son put together a super street cruiser. Like others have said
it is your car partner do what you want. Love those seats alot,
trying to get my hands on a 69 GTX and may steal that design.
Enjoy your car and wishing you and your son the best of times
in your car.
Thanks for another Mopar back on the road. Mike:luvplace:
