1965 Dodge Coronet 500

About this Mopar:

A friend of my brothers picked this car up in Nov. of 2012. It's been sitting in Detroit for 20 years. He was just planning to get it running and flip it. So I decided to get rid of the basket case 66 Plymouth sport fury I had in the garage and bought the Coronet. No worries, the Plymouth went to a good home. Coronet was originally light Gold, it's was repainted a root beer brown metallic color, probably at the time it ended up being parked. 383 was also changed back then. Now has a 68 era 440hp. Apparently it was out of a GTX. Also the 14'' magnums from the GTX. Has period era super stock springs. Original white interior. Pretty solid for a car sitting for 20 years. Need to replace the whole fuel system. Old 5/16 line is very rusty and too small for the 440. Tank has been sitting with gas in it for those 20 years. Hope to have it derivable by the end of April. I'll post some better pictures when it's cleaned up and running.
9-15-2013. Bummer, wasn't able to get the car drivable this year. Did get it running, but still need to redo the fuel lines and tank. Also have new brake lines to put on. My brother was working on a customer's 70 Charger recently and the guy wanted a different exhaust. Nice set of 2 & 1/2 duals will be going on my car. I just added 2 pictures of the grill that was redone by Chrome Dan in mid-michigan. He does great work. 7-14-2014 couple pics of the old and new rims and tires.

Always liked 500's over 440's but a 440 came along at the right price. Nice looking car. I blacked the long vertical bars in the grill. Guys did that in the 60's when I was 16 ish.

Thank you. I don't believe I've seen a grill done like you described, seems like it would look good though.

Love the color-combo. The car also has a good stance. Nice. Next time I'm in Okemos, we should nosh.

I was looking to do that over the winter as well. seen one in Columbus and it looked good, like 2 sections of separate grille trim.

I love the car in general!! The wheels, white interior, and the color is beautiful and pops against the white top!! Well done!!

Obviously I'm fond of the 65 coronet, especially one with a good story behind it! Are there new pics, is it on the road? I like that Root beer color.

Thanks. Yeah, I really need update it. Yes, just got it driving late last year. I’ve posted some updates in the “what did you do to your Mopar today” thread

I really love that color, what is it called?
Swear I replied to this yesterday. Hey-o, unfortunately I don't know what the color is. From what my brother and I know, the car was probably painted about 25-30 years ago. I've only had the car about 8 & 1/2 years. Just got it driving before Christmas 2019. I really need to update my garage one of these days.

Sweet looking Coronet. Thought I had seen it before. Riverdawg. Maybe in another forum on here. Hey keeping the dream alive.

Love the color Riverdawg! Would that be the st. clair river?
Hi Scooter, sorry I just saw this message. If you are asking if the car was from that area, I don't know. Would love to run across anyone that knew of the car back in the 80's or 90's.

Really nice looking Coronet. That color with the white top & interior, plus those wheels, make it a standout.
