1967 Belvedere

Finishing up my '67 Belvedere. Just waiting on my 383.

About this Mopar:

20190421_183603.jpg She was a mess when I bought this car. I had an idea to make this car look like a factory four door car with bucket seats. I used a pair of '67 B body buckets, and reproduction console, and top plates. This car was a lot of work. I will add more pictures. The picture of the car on the rollback was for interior work. The interior was done by Paul Pascatore. He did an excellent job. If you notice I installed a GTX flip cap fuel inlet on the car. I used the Dodge Coronet upholstery. I just liked it better than the Belvedere upholstery[. I was careful cutting the rusty stuff off the car. Of course they don't make the trunk dropoffs for the '67 b bodies. What is really strange is they make the inner wheel house, but not the outer ? I used rust bullet black on the a pillars, and rust bullet silver on the floor pans, i used a spray rust inhibitor on the rockers, and on the inside of the c pillars. If you notice I had the door panels redone. The two tone thing did not work out very well. I bought an unsilenced air cleaner, and I will put the red 383 four barrel pie tin on it. Too bad I won't be around fifty years from now when somebody has this car. The head scratching will be epic. I wish I could get a fender tag that says it's a four door sedan with buckets, and a console (sport satellite ?) But it is a one of none. Doing a car like this relieves the pressure of a numbers matching car. I finally got the 383 on the k member. Just have to install the fuel line on the carb. Picture of everything on the k stand. Going to install it sometime next week. Finally got the motor, and trans in. Put together the front suspension. I just have to tweak everything. Then set up the trans, throttle cable, and install the exhaust do the brakes. A lot of punch out stuff, and triple checking .I used u.s.cartool engine dolly, and unilift to install the engine and transmission. It was really easy lifting the front end, and sliding everything from underneath. Got the steering column, and steering wheel installed. The coupler was jazzed up on the steering column, and would not slide down onto the steering box. I swapped out the coupler, and it slid into place like it was mean't to be there. I bought a forever sharp steering wheel, but I had to use a different post cover. I want to get this done. As usual though other things get in the way.

I have always wanted to do a 67 2-door post as a Satellite or GTX clone. I have everything to do it except the 2-door post. Thanks for the inspiration.

I used a template from a floor shift console car to install the the console brackets on the floor pan. As you know all floor pans were stamped with the floor shift provision, and the dimples to drill the holes, as well as the dual exhaust muffler bracket on the left rear of the floor pan. The floor pans on cop cars, and taxis were deeper. I learned that from Uncle Tony's garage on YouTube ( Tony Defeo)

Coming out great. Can't wait to see the finished product. I'm surprised you didn't go with a Hemi engine, still a 383 is a great choice

Fabulous work. I have wanted to do a 67 2 door post as a GTX tribute for years, just never found what I considered a good enough example to start with.

You did a lot of work for sure. Most people don't know how much work their is involved in a full restoration. Like that motor also. Every thing clean as a pin. Good job. Hope you have it on the road by now. That is the day it all pay's off.

Just looked at your build, you did a better job of restoring that car compared to when it came down the assembly line back in the day. I do have a soft spot for the 4 doors from the 60's, my dad had a 68 dodge Polara, it was the first car I drove as a young kid. Brings back the memories. Thank you.
