1968 Dodge Charger R/T

A great restoration imported from Evansville Indiana to Edinburgh, Scotland in 2016.

About this Mopar:

I bought this car on eBay back in 2016 from a businessman in Indiana and imported it to Edinburgh, Scotland. There was some weird stuff going on with the bidding and I didn’t get the car first time, however the winning bidder couldn’t actually afford to pay for the car so I got a second bite…at a reduced price.
I believe the car was restored at Rexburg, Idaho sometime between 2006-2010.
The seller assured me the engine was from a 1972 R/T but later we discovered it was actually a 1978 manufactured motor, so I’m guessing it was from a truck or RV. I genuinely believe the seller did not know this…but I could be wrong.
I had fun with the car for a couple of years until it suffered catastrophic engine failure due to a new oil filter failing after a months use.
The engine was rebuilt using all new components during 2019 and lots of other general maintenance was carried out including the fitting of a new Borgeson steering box. We even managed to get the flip up headlight covers working again!
Enjoy the photos!

You need to enter your 2G Charger in my contest!:D
That's a wicked looking car!

I love the 68’s. Cool pic with the bridge. But as for the 78 440, they were made for police duty and government vehicles. Chrysler stopped selling 77 and 78 440’s for passenger cars, but did sell for rv’s and trucks as well.

I was told by someone who used to work for Chrysler that police engines were assembled in a special shop at the plant that only worked on those engines.

I really like the 68 Dodge Chargers, R/T, and Superbees. I like the rear strip much better than the 69 s, the narrow, wide, wide and then narrow strips look better that the narrrow, wide, and narrow strips. I also like the small circular side marker lights. The side marker lights gives away that is a 68
