1969 A12 Superbee driver quality

seen around Grand Rapids MI causing trouble

About this Mopar:

Long road to get it here, I bought it from the 4th or 5th owner, unknown 440 was placed over the oem 383, someone added the A12 scoop hood. I got it " ran when parked " not running status. Got it running threw a rod shortly after, turns out the old school purple cam snapped at the 5-6 line making it a bb4cyl for a bit. Dropped a freshly rebuilt motor, blew a cyl wall out, on the initial shake down run, pulled that, dropped in one I did all the work on except the machining part. In my basement over the winter. Got it running the weekend of Mopars at the Red Barn 2019.

Now it runs pretty good about 50% of what it could be. Trans is buggered, dizzy seems to cut out at higher rpm, and drive shaft or u joints need to be addressed.

Always working on it trying to make it better. If you see me around feel free to stop and talk. If you want to see the progress in near real time Instagram tag " #fumblebee "

Great looking Bee. Hope you can get a solid engine in it. Maybe see you at Mopars at the Red Barns 2020.

Nice, nice, nice!
BTW. It be interesting to tally up how many have had purple cam failures. I hesitated to grab a built 440 from a local speed shop 7 years ago and then found out later that the purple cam destroyed itself under warranty. Have read about the issue too with other owners.

It was news to me on this! And they are super popular. Seems almost all early 90s built 440s have them

Grate car. Know that it is a bummer to have set back's. But sound's like you can do most of the work your self. Hope you get it the way you want it. Keep up the good work buddy.
