Car was purchased new by my wife's uncle and he gave it to my son in 1988 (Matt was five years old, car had a little over 29,000 miles). Another uncle, (my side of the family) had a 1968 Hemi RR in the late 60s and I fell in love with the street hemi then. Have several older cars including my first, an original paint 1963 Impala (327/300hp/4spd) and a knack for maintaining them. Plan for the Satellite was to remove the 318 and install a Hemi as my first retirement project. Retired in August 2015 and we started on it then. Engine came from John Arruzza's shop, it's a 572 and is the 619th Hemi he's produced. That's all he's done since 1989; in my opinion, he's a master builder and his work is second to none. Ordered an 11" converter and torqueflite built by Frank Lupo at Dynamic Converters in Delaware. Kept the 8 3/4 rear and installed 3:23 gears w/suregrip. Had Denny's Driveshaft weld up a 3" steel driveshaft with 1350 series yokes. I was adamant that even though there were no Hemi Satellites produced in 1969, I wanted to keep an original look and ordered a 26" radiator and Hemi transmission cooler from Bob Schirmer at Glen-ray Radiators and again; in my opinion, they are works of art. We're two years into the project and pleased with results so far. Attempted to load photos chronologically; but, having some trouble...

Very straight original looking car. With a little hidden something under the bonnet just to surprise people. Car and engine look beautiful, congrats.

Really incredible! clean machine. I've always liked the Satellite look...

GORGEOUS ! Did u add the torque boxes for chassis strength ?
Look at my garage pic's bit by bit of my 70 Coronet ...I'm installing inner fender braces and lower Rad support brace from them & sub frame connectors, torque boxes from other makers...

Very nice satellite sir, however, IMO you should have left such a beautiful ORIGINAL car, original with the 318 left in it. So few of those kinds of cars are left, and everyone is building a muscle car. Just my opinion, and it doesn't take anything away from the beauty of the car. Good luck with the build!

1000s of miles away from you dbuck ..... But as the sun goes down and darkness falls in Charleston... if you listen carefully ...I mean really carefully .... You should hear a strange sound in the west virginia night air ...... That'll be me .... Drooling
Love the car she's gorgeous and got the get up and go to prove it
