Good grief...this starter is starting to get on my nerves. They gave me the wrong one. There are two body styles of the same starter, one is large frame and the other is smaller frame. Beat my head against the wall for an hour before I realized it was not going in. Took it back and had them order the right one, got it and in it went. Along with the header of course. Ya can't put them in independently. It is in, no more whining. Now on to other things like MSD distributor, control box and coil.
I dread working on the push button trans linkage (I know so little about it), but it is part of the deal so I will get through it with help from as many people as I can muster that knows anything about the push button linkages.
I must have had the headers in and out at least 5 times. Now the engine is firmly bolted into its final resting place. Now on to the fuel lines and carburetor. I need to order a radiator.
I got the bolts into the torque converter through the flexplate. should have been easy, but it wasn't. One bolt was sticking out a little and was getting stuck when I tried to rotate the engine to the next bolt. Finally won out with a home made thin 3/4 bent wrench. Man, I was going nuts there for a minute with this one.
