68 Sport Satellite RestoMod

Been working on this one for more than a few years now. New quarters, floorpans, frame connectors, etc. Currently fitting it with 5.7 Hemi and TR6060 out of a 2010 Challenger. Gonna be a while yet....

Bought this one in Nov. 2010. Brought it home and got started on what was going to be a mechanical freshen up, the usual, new front suspension, disc brakes, tune up, straighten out some questionable wiring. Just get it in good shape as a top down cruiser. Got things squared away for the 2011 summer, everything except the cooling issue, an aftermarket too small radiator came with the car, not large enough to handle the 383. Over the next winter, a 26" Champion was installed, with the core support opened up to accommodate the width. When I bought the car I knew the quarters were shot, the floor pan had a traffic sign in it, and it wasn't roadworthy, and it was an original small block car. The plan was to get the car out there, enjoy it, and hang the For Sale sign on it, let someone else deal with the cosmetic end of it. After the radiator work went so well, and a small patch under the battery tray, I decided to clean up the engine bay, and reseal the engine, that is when things got out of hand. I had sold some parts off a Coronet Vert to a member here who was restoring a similar 68 Sport Satellite convertible, but doing an OE type rotisserie job on it. The more we talk the more I decided to fix the floorpan. Fast forward a couple years, the floor is in, along with the entire car stripped, US Car tool frame connectors on it, both quarters cut off and mounted on a rotisserie, headed to the media blaster. A friend who had done the bodywork on my Belvedere was building a new shop, needed it wired and the trade off started. We got his shop going over the next couple years, and the Satellite was sent down the road to it's new hang out. The quarter skins were installed, along with the rest of the cancerous spots addressed. While this was going on, I started becoming interested in all the Gen 3 Hemi swaps going on, and stepped into a wrecked 2010 Challenger. The plan is to use as much of the mechanical, electrical, and interior of the donor car, hopefully making it a plug and play sorta deal. Engine is in, trans/torsion bar mounts and crossmember fabricated, dash frame, steering column, brake /clutch pedals mounted. Challenger radiator/ fans/ wipers, relay box along with a Vintage Air mock up box are in. Currently working on location for ECU and wiring, hose, A/C line routing. Like I said, gonna be a while....
