My Stepfather's '66 Charger 383 Hi-PO

This is the only B-body he owns. It's a WW-1 white 1966 Charger 383 High Performance. Factory Air conditioning and power windows. See the build thread link

About this Mopar:

Just letting you know that this is not my car, it is my stepdads car. My stepdad and I are primarily into the C-body cars (and i'm also on FCBO), however we also have one B-body. It's a 1966 Dodge Charger Fast-back with a 383 4 bbl, factory console floor shift air conditioning and power window car, and it still even has its original Certi-card. The car is in the 66-67Charger registry. It was bought new out of Santa Monica, CA on Jan 7, 1966, it was sitting in the previous owners garage and had not run since 1987. I even have newspapers with pictures from in the trunk to prove it. The car does run and "drive" now, (but not great), just drove it from the lower garage to the upper. Brakes were "shot" but have since then been replaced. My stepdad bought it on August 14, 2015. The car is WW1 White with a red interior, and the plan is to keep the red interior paint the car silver put a modern A/C unit in and put on Magnum 500 wheels. (Make a clone from the 1966 Charger brochures, with a bit of a twist) The silver Charger picture was taken at Carlisle in 2019 and this is what the car will hopefully look like.

My stepdad has always been partial to the Chargers, he had one as his first car, however it never got on the road so he got rid of it. Then he got a '69 Charger and put an R/T stripe on it, but he unfortunately hit a deer with it and got rid of it. The '66 was silver 318 Poly with black interior, and the '69 was orange and that's all I know about it.

Great project.
I would suggest upgrading the master cylinder to a 67 up dual for safety.
Even so the drums don't work great on this car.
Also replace the power steering hose, it's likely to blow up and create a fire hazard.
Finally, magnum 500 wheels were not available until 67 (but a great look).
Keep us posted! Finding parts is tough.

I also have a white 66 red interior been in a shop for 17 years to replace drivers side back Had been hit before I got Mine has a cloth interior the only cloth interior I have seen in a 66. I think it might be from factory. I have 3 66 Chargers one has done 8 Power Tours and planning on doing 20019

this is albert I have the three 66 chargers one is a parts car so I may have some parts but I have used some and the underside is super rusty. I live in nw corner of Ohio so nor sure about shipping if big parts. Let me know what needed and can check if have

Albert, The parts I really need are a front bumper WITHOUT guards, and a 383 4bbl air conditioning radiator. Not sure what else I really need. If I need more I'll let you know.

My dad had one from Arizona back in the 80's. Factory silver, red interior, 361 4spd. I think 412 were made like that. Its long gone... In early 2000's I had almost the same car, silver, red interior, 383, a/c, power windows....got separated, had nowhere to keep it to stay in its condition, it was nice!. Still bummed

My profile picture is hopefully what the end result will be, with some suggestions from another Charger I saw at a show. Obviously without the bumper guards. Want to create what's in the brochure ads. Only 412 361 4 speeds made is pretty rare. Sorry to hear you had to get rid of your other 383 Charger.

Nice charger. Sure you guy's will get it wiped into shape. Look's like it is a solid car. Have fun and keep us up on the car.

Thank you for the kind words. It is indeed a solid car originally being from California, except that we found a little bit of rust by the windshield, on the rear left wheel well, and on the inside of the trunk BUT nothing at all bad and can be easily repaired. Hope you follow the build......
