Hey guys, I'd like to replace the rear drums on my '68 Charger. One of the lips on the edge of one of the drums has an area that's busted off and there's not a whole lot of meat left on them anyways. What is everyone doing when it comes to replacing the earlier style 11 inch rear drums? I don't see anyone offering them except in the '69+ finned versions.

From what I've heard, those aren't reproduced and ultra rare. Someone who knows better PLEASE jump in. I suppose you can just used the newer finned drums, pay a fortune for somebody's old ones, or well up & re-grind what you have.

I may measure mine and see if there is any meat left on them to turn. If there is, I can take them to work and see if the lip can be welded. I really hate to put the finned ones on...I'd rather wait and see if I can find a decent original set if mine aren't usable...

I will definitely ask them. I'm ordering their brake in a box kit for the front and rear within the next month, so I'll see what they say.

You might also check with Tonys Parts, they are sponsor here, to see if he may have a usable used set.

I would try a company called old parts source 973-939-8744. They specialize in NOS parts.

There is a reason mom mopar went to the finned ones
besides staying cooler the stay round better
are you thinking of the ribbed ones or the really smooth one

I'm looking for the original round ones. I'm doing a factory resto on my '68 Charger and replacing what came on it

I checked out the thread and looked up that number which show 70-74 finned drums. I'll keep my eyes open at the swap meets this year for a decent used set...

I think before I did that I would try to score a nice original set at Carlisle or the Nats. The car is a couple years away from being finished, so I have time to look for a decent set. Who knows, by then they may be reproducing them...
