Holy smokes I didn't realize custom backspaced wheels were so expensive, although I should have.

I've got a 67 Charger I'm getting ready to put on the road and it's past time for wheels and tires. My original plan was to go with VN 205 Torq Thrusts, I really like the look;
15x10 in back with a 5"BS wearing 295/50 15
15x8 in front with a 4.5"BS wearing 245/60 15
Prices on these without resorting to billet adaptors are >$500 each with shipping, double what off-the-shelf wheels run.

TBH I'd be fine toning it down 15x8s all around, but the available backspaces I'm seeing are still shy of the 4"+ I think I may need.
Are there any wheels that fit beefier tires that I can buy "off the rack" or is everyone just ordering custom rims?

Any suggestions (or even better, pics) are appreciated.

I found that 15x8 with 245/60/15s would catch on the wheel lip molding. I have 215/65/15s on the front.

15 x 10 295 50 on a (vinyl top!) 67 charger.
I don't remember backspace specs, but had to space them out about 1/4 inch.
See tire grinding on inner..

I have 235 70s on a factory ford 15x7 on the front.

Are you trying for the TTO one piece? Those usually have a selection of backspace, if you consider ONE a selection. I have a pair of vn105 15x10 Americans that are 3 7/8 bs, and that is the only way they come, one piece. But, I also have a set of VN501, the polished TT2 version ( be careful, vn501s are now an entirely different wheel).
These are the two piece, 15x7fronts with 4"bs, and 16x8 (or maybe 8.5) with a measured 5"bs, that American Racing calls 4 7/8. I'm sure there are 15s with the same. I have 10x28 slicks on mine and they fit my 62, so I KNOW they could fall on a first Gen charger.
Time for you to do some more shopping. I think 15x8 with 4 1/2 bs would probably work for you all the way around, you would just have to a little conservative on front tire size.
(But yeah, customs aren't cheap. I ordered a pair of 15x12 tt2 with a custom bs. Bill was almost $800 if I remember right).

Its a tuner's world my friend. Its a small market for 15" wheels these days.

Thanks guys. I think what I'm going to go with is a set of u101 slotted mags from US Mags. It turns out those will give me the sizes/backspaces I want without that crazy $$$ penalty. Not the exact wheels I wanted but this is the first pass to get this on the road and enjoying it.

Phase II will be a whole different set of upgrades and maybe I can work what I want in then.
