I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that I have to let my Hemi go. I almost finished it. It's a 56 331 truck engine. It has been totally rebuilt, assembled by me. Not that any of this matters, but I have been ASE certified since 1981 when I was 16. I became the youngest ASE certified Master technician in Georgia in 1982 when I was 17. None of that really means a thing, because I've met ASE techs who didn't know which end of the toolbox to work out of. Just so you know, I've been doing this a long time.
About the engine:
From top to bottom.
Rare dual one barrel truck intake manifold, with one to two barrel adapters and two rebuilt large GM 2GC carburetors. 350 CFM each.
Truck cylinder heads. These are said to be second only in flow to the "555" castings. These are probably the same, because I had the machine shop install the 2" 392 valves and releive the bowls to open up the intake side. Also has new exhaust valves. All 16 are the Hot Heads stainless swirl polished valves. They were installed with a competition valve job. New, single Ultradyne springs set up at 130 pounds on the seat for a small solid camshaft. New retainers locks and seals.
The camshaft is a custom Oregon Cam grind. .435 lift, 240* duration @ .050" ground on a 106 LSA for a nice choppy idle. Has stock replacement "dumbell" type solid lifters.
Cloyes True Roller non split timing chain and gear set. Also a modified by me MoPar timing chain tensioner.
Egge stock replacement 1955 style pistons. Rods have been resized with ARP Wave Loc bolts installed. Hot Heads adjustable pushrods have also been installed. The heads have been milled .025" and the block decked only to square it up. Also has NOS Fitzgerald thin steel head gaskets. Compression blueprinted at 9.16.
Stock steel crankshaft with new Federal Mogul rod and full groove main bearings. Hot heads oil diverter valve installed. Remanufactured stock replacement oil pump with stock swinging pickup. I also have a FULL length sump truck pan. I have no idea how much it holds, but I would guess at least 8 quarts. It is in excellent condition.
I have the Hot Heads intermediate shaft that allows the use of a small block distributor. I also will include a Mopar Performance 340 distributor as well.
I also have two Hemi flywheels. The stock original and an aluminum flywheel.
Someone will get a nice engine here. It just cannot be me. We have too much debt and I have made the tough decision to let this go to get us out. My wife and I both lost our jobs earlier this year and things are really tough. It's not fair that I hold onto this while we suffer elsewhere.
I cannot ship this. I will work with the shipper of your choice however I can. I can help load as I have an engine hoist. I can even put it on my truck and meet a semi in the street, but shipping will have to be the responsibility of the buyer. I really hate to sell this. I will probably never have another, but we need the help.
I am located in Middle Georgia. Please PM me if you are interested. Thanks.
