Hello everyone,

Finally getting back to working on my project and one of the next things I need to tackle is the transmission. I believe it is a A904 (Slant Six car). I have heard they can be kinda tricky to rebuild.

I was looking for input on whether to send it to a shop or try it myself? And if I send it to shop if anyone has recommendations for Idaho.

Thank you all!

They don't get much simpler than a 904. Get a FSM or aftermarket transmission repair manual. It must be clean!

I'll be selling off the drivetrain out of my '65 this year. Slant 6 auto, runs pretty good, so plug & play. Too bad you're quite a way's out...

Excellent. I may give it a shot. I watched a rebuild video on YouTube and it seems pretty straight forward. However, the bearing press seems a little beyond my current abilities. Any recommendations on how to get the bearings in?

I will assume you are talking about bushings so, take any parts that require new bushings to a transmission shop or machine shop for that work. Usually a Torque Flite only needs a pump or extension bushing.
