How do I reinstall these clips that are used to attach the interior trim just above the front windshield. I don't remember how I removed them. But to reinstall them it looks like I need to compress the inner little tabs, the push it into the hole, then somehow spread them apart.

Once you place the clip in place with the tabs inside the hole, use a pair of pliers and squeeze the outer tabs together. This will push the inner tabs tight against the edges of the hole.
Be sure to have the clip correctly oriented.

Those clips are a major pain in the a$$ to install. Mine kept falling out or pulled out when I tried to install the trim piece.
If the windshield has not been installed, the trick seems to be to use a screw to keep the clips in place.

Thanks, Bob Sawyer, Just what I needed to know.

The after market clips will break the small lips when squeezed to hard. Just fit them in and them add a small screw to hold them, easy to do before installing glass. But can be done after.

Once that fastener has been used, the metal is brittle, fatigued, and the mounting tension is much weaker than when installed on the assembly line 54 years ago. That's likely why 65Hemi's keep falling out. If you do not have an extra few of these fasteners to sort through from a couple parts cars to find the best ones, you can take the build quality up a notch by installing rivet nuts(aka threaded inserts) in each of those...(6 or 8?) clip fastener holes. Yes. You'll need to invest in a rivet installation tool and buy the right bull-nose piece for the fastener. Remove all remnants of the spring tensioners on the clip to open the way for probably a #10 or #12 machine screw with a pan-style head. Try Hanson Rivet in Pacoima, CA. https://www.hansonrivet.com/?gclid=...gPKwxyUvlOuPU4jO_cc6djqD_lCAAi70aAioeEALw_wcB
They are excellent and I think they'll ship. There's a bit more to this procedure but this is more than enough to get started should you need to take this path.

This attention to detail is what will set your build(s) apart from the others and save you chasing loose windshield trim months or years after you've finished! I could go on about over-priced, over-hyped 'specialists' that restore Mopars for a living. Yah they're just doing what they love to do. Their 'passion' is still flipping used cars. Have a t-shirt. Join the 'family'. Follow us on Instagram. On the flip, for those folks with more money and less time, they are simply serving a market. Thank goodness I have a day job and don't do restoration for a living cause I'd lose my t-shirt and then some.

One more thing! Install your new fabric headliner BEFORE re-installing these clips.
