I've finally made the decision to sell my long time project. I bought this 1965 Coronet 500 back in the early 80's as a daily driver. I've used it for more than 40 years as my personal test bed for the development of AR Engineering parts. It is one of the first Pro Touring Mopar cars. The Doug Nash swap was done in the early 90's as well as the 17 inch wheels, big brakes, Koni shocks, etc.
The car is an original 426 wedge car with a 4 speed transmission. It came from the factory with front heater, AM radio with rear speaker and reverb, console mounted Tach, back up lights, tinted windshield and variable speed wipers with washers.
The body is original steel, never hit as far as I can tell. No body work that I've found, no rust. Glass is all original as is the trim. Car was repainted before I bought it. Looks like a cheap paint job with some of the paint heavily oxidized. I haven't tried to repaint it, I just drive it with the patina. There is original paint under the truck lid and in some other places. The MW hood scoop is metal, not plastic or glass. It is a very nice steel hood scoop that is mounted correctly. The bumpers are original but were straightened and rechromed back in the 90's when that was still possible. The nose of the car was recently repainted to fix some damaged paint. I blistered the original paint years ago when I got a little too aggressive with the torch while removing the undercoating.
The modification list is long! 17 inch custom made Fikse rims, Porsche twin turbo 13 inch front brakes, Ford Mustang rear disc brakes, Strange S60 rear end with 3.23 gears, Doug Nash 5 speed transmission, engine is a 426 block that is bored and stroked to 496 inches. The engine has Trick Flow 240 heads, hyd roller cam, Holley Sniper EFI, Trick Flow intake, etc. The engine makes more than 600 hp and torque. I've added power steering and upgraded to a 90 amp Denso alternator. Exhaust is custom build 2.5 inch with tri Y headers.
Suspension is early 90's Pro Touring with Koni shocks, FMJ knuckles, custom steel hubs,custom 1.25 tubular front anti-sway bar, Mopar SS springs modified to use for cornering. The rear tubs were widened. Rear tires are 315/45-17, front tires are 245/55-17.
The car isn't perfect. The paint is faded and has some scratches. I don't think it needs any body work, just sanded down, filled and sanded then painted. The interior is nice but needs new carpets. A standard carpet kit won't fit since the floor was modified slightly for the Doug Nash transmission.
I have a ton of parts for the car including a bunch of original parts which I've saved. I have duplicate badges and trim and some stuff like that. I'd prefer to sell everything at the same time but we can work that out.
