I am looking at a distributor that a man has with the part number 2444358 with a Tag # 1R5-4006-J 6W that claims it to be a 1966 hemi distributor. My GG white book shows that number to be a 1964 383-4 HP/Police unit.

Does anyone have a 1966 parts book to confirm this?

Yeah, well mine is a new MSD unit, but I would like to have an original on the shelf for the day that some **** numbers matching character wants to buy my car.

After looking at my 1966 parts book, I only see one Hemi distributor listed for the 66 R & W models. I took a digital picture of the page that lists all of the various distributors for all of the engines in 1966 and posted it below. If you can't enlarge it to make it easy to read, let me know and I could e-mail a larger version of it to you if you wany it. By the way, I did not find a listing for the other part #2444358, so unless I missed it, it doesn't look like it's a 1966 correct part number. :dontknow:

Here's what I found on the 426 unit. The first listing is a complete distributor and the second is a factory replacement unit, that was sold minus the cap and rotor.

I don't have a 66 parts book but I did check an old Motor's manual and it shows 2444358 is for 1965 383 dual point.(Dodge only) And it shows IBS-4006J is for 64 & 65. It also says a IBS-4006P is for a 66 426 Hemi. I Know it's not a Chrysler parts book, but maybe it will help!

I have the same distributer that came out of a 1965 Plymouth police car we had 30 years ago. I still have the motor with the 383 HP stamping on it

Man, you guys reached deep for this one. I started this thread nearly TWO years ago.

I found this ancient thread to be particularly useful! I need one too!!!
