1966 Satellite Door Problem

The driver's side door on my 1966 Satellite will only latch shut occassionally. It appears that if I rotate the star wheel on the door mechanism to a certain position, the door will latch shut. Otherwise it doesn't latch or it bounces open. The passenger door works fine and I can't see a difference in the visible parts. My questions are: is the door out of alignment, is the door striker worn or is there a problem with the internal mechanism. Anyone else ever have a similar problem?

i bet the door is out of alignment, u might new new hinge bushings, been there!! same car too!

Looks like the door could use new hinge bushings / re-alignment. I re-positioned the striker, works for now. Gotta make sure I get the striker bolts tight so that it doesn't move inward!

My 66 Bevedere wagon does the same thing on the drivers door, and my 66 Belvedere does it on both doors.

And so, what happened? Bushings replaced? Does the door shut like new?
