Good Morning all,

Just recently purchased an original unrestored 68 RT in Omaha Orange from the original owner with paperwork from the lot and original title. It does not have the fender tag to designate the 999 paint code, so I was happy when I pulled the backseat out to find the build sheet.

My cars vin is
XS29L8G224196

The build sheet in the back seat is for
XS29L8G224181

Is there any other way besides not restoring the car to show/prove it’s an original Orange RT? Thanks for the time and help in this.

PS
Also, if you have that 68 RT I have the build sheet on, get ahold of me and I will send it to you.

Sounds like a Bengal Charger. Got any pictures of the car that you can post.
I’m sure it’s not a bengal, it’s an RT and it was made at the wrong plant vs the other bengal vins I saw. The guy is 91 I bought it from, and in 1970 his new wife didn’t want to drive around in a “kid car” so he did an exterior only paint to dark green as that’s the color she wanted. That’s how she still sits to this day.

Just to be sure, did you check to see if there are any bondod over "Bengal" emblem holes on the inside of the front fenders?

I did not, I’m traveling this month with getting the kids set up for the start of college, I will do a quick check to be sure. But it’s very unlikely.

This is what I was thinking,,, but were the Bengals not 383 cars?

The trim at the bottom of the "C" pillar would indicate it once had a vinyl top, or at least, a different painted top.

I wonder if the sheet shows a black vinyl roof

Sorry just read about the non matching sheet.

Why would someone peel the tag off that original car.. :BangHead:
