i have two under dash harnesses. one just has the black wire for the ampmeter gauge,no red wire. the other one has both red and black wires. neither appears to have been cut. which one is correct for my car ? and why does one have no red wire ? thanks

If you don't have both a red and black wire attached to the ammeter, you won't get any power to the car. The harness with no red wire is bad.

More accurately.....
In STOCK condition, both wires are needed to complete the circuit through the ammeter.
I bypassed and eliminated the ammeter so I have just one wire powering up the interior. Maybe the harness with one wire was modified the same way.
