i saw a 440 motor today that came out of a 68 r/t charger and on the rear rail around the oil pressure sending unit area are the numbers and letter 8R387835 what do they mean ?

i believe your right is looks like a B so what do the numbers tell me ??
I already told you, it's the VIN # for the car it came out of. Would match the dash VIN's last 8 digits if it's original to the car.

Most 68’s did not have a vin as it was not a federal requirement until 69 but they started the vin stamping on the late 68 blocks.
Incorrect. Did an engine install/break-in as well as a full trans rebuild on a customer's numbers matching (engine & trans) '68 Coronet R/T. Late Sept '67 scheduled production date. One owner car.

The numbers on the rails matched the VIN.....? Cool!
