    I’m restoring a 1968 Plymouth Sport Satellite convertible into a GTX tribute/clone.

Leaning towards LL1 surf turquoise or QQ1 bright blue metallic. Not important really. Lol.

    My question is this.

Was the Top, interior, and stripes always the same color?

How were those colors or options picked by the buyer?

Was it a package decided when you chose interior color?

Or could you choose all three colors separately?

For instance, white top, interior, and stripes is common. Along with all black as well.

But, could you get a black interior, with a white convertible top and white GTX side stripes?

I’m sure somebody who was around back then can answer this question.

Thanks again for all of the help and knowledge.

    Thanks, Eric.

If you wanted, you could order a tan car with blue interior and a green vinyl roof back in the day. There were no option packages & everything was ordered individually.

The QQ1 would be my choice for the convertible as that was what Plymouth used in their brochure. You could go with either white or blue interior & both would look best with white stripes. I've seen blue stripes, but they just don't look as good as white. A white convertible roof would be for either interior combination. A white interior would get a white boot cover & a blue interior would get a blue boot cover. All of the black interior cars (that I've seen) have had a black roof.

Ok. That was my thoughts as well.

I was considering going black interior with a white top and stripes. Just wasnt sure if that was “kosher “. Lol

I’m not worried about totally correct.

But also don’t want to fall into the A/E body guy thing of……”hey, let’s throw every available option in mismatched colors from different years at this thing. That will look good”. Lol

My Green 67 GTX has a black vinyl top and white/black interior, all factory. You could even order headrests for the bucket seats on one side or the other, or both. When I ordered my first new car I sat down with the salesman and went through his order book. I got:
      67 Satellite
      383 4-speed
      Bucket Seats
      Console
      8K tachometer
      3:23 sure grip
      Fender mounted turn signals
      LH remote mirror
      AM radio
$2995.00 out the door, tax, tag and license.
I asked about the Hemi option and was told it wasn't on the option list for a 67 Satellite, but he could check the box and see what happened. My good old dad put a stop to that.:)

Sport Satellites are almost as rare as GTX's. I'd keep it as is Model wise and be the only one at a local show. Plenty of GTX's out there, real and clone. Just my dumb opinion.

I have a friend who has a big block gts dart with a headrest only on the passenger side. Build sheet and dealer invoice to show that too. It looks odd, but is neat. Maybe he thought the passenger would need it to prevent whiplash from all that 383 power in the dart....

Totally agree. I’m putting together a 69 Belvedere post car right now that will proudly wear its factory Belvedere fender emblem. Not many around. It was a factory 6 3 on the tree however, but that will be changed.....

As for the OP, I like tourquoise with white, maybe even a red stripe?

in the factory options book scans over on hamtramckhistorical, there are charts with available combinations

occasionally you will see an "available, but not recommended" combo listed

also remember for 66-70 a tri-color interior was possible, with upper door frame paint different than the interior color. The most common one I've seen is gold door frames with a black or black and white interior

in 68, wasn't the white interior option also available with colored dash and carpet, as well as black like the later years (when a white int automatically got a black dash, etc)

My '68 Hemi GTX was originally QQ1 blue, blue stripe, black vinyl top, light blue interior. It was an ordered car with this combo.

I've seen several yellow cars with factory green tops and/or interiors.

If you're a big sprite (limon) or 7 up fan, I guess, but I don't really care for it.

I've seen only one yellow with a factory red interior, a 65/66 Fury vert IIRC.
That combo was popular in the 1920s to 30s.

yellow and orange with a tan int is somewhat common

the 69 Hemi RR convertible I was close to buying was yellow with tan
