Bill did transmissions at a Dodge dealership. He did my A100 and somehow it worked. Give him a call to see if he wants to do it.

Anybody rebuild their own transmission?

Also, looking at headers, the Headman Headers I purchased for my signature car have gone up $500 in price to over $800 a pair now!!! They have the uncoated ones for about half that price.

What are y'all using and what diameter pipes. I was thinking 3" diameter with Hush Thrush Turbo mufflers.

Was a trans tech for many years.

I pulled the torque converter out and it has this number on it. Not sure what that means?

Me either. I put a new one in the A100 since it was a BluePrint 408 and makes its power higher in the band. My cars are all built for max torque at 3000 so I had them rebuilt as the factory stall speed is what I needed. The transmission shop sent them out for me. That was before I had my own personal TorqueFlight expert at my fingertips

Danger here is you don’t know what the stall speed is and it could be way off with your motor build

Well I am trusting to get some guidance from the more knowledgeable on this site.

Looked at the rebuild kit link you posted and found too many choices for my tranny. LOL

Yucky looking and dented pan.

Gonna take some hammer and dolly work to get it semi straight again.

Torque conv should be matched to the engine build and the cars intended use
Not knowing the specs on the conv you have. I personally wouldn't use it as is .

A stock trans with maybe a TF2 kit with maybe a 4.2 ish range kickdown lever will hold up behind your engine reasonably well, IMO

Take it apart and lay it out in order. Reassemble it in opposite order you should be fine

Biggest thing is clean , clean, clean , especially around the valve body

I found the TF2 shift kit and the 4.2 kickdown lever but which rebuild kit should I be looking for?

I'm guessing the red clutches and regular steels kit?

When disassembling my transmission I noticed something missing.

There is supposed to be a spring on the plunger located on the right according to the video I am watching but mine did not have a spring there?
I have the tranny on a table and don't believe the spring fell out. Searched high and low just in case but found nothing.

Some do, some don't.... Some are removed when installing shift kits... Sometimes there is a steel rod blocking the travel...

Hmm, that may be the case here. I measured the torque converter and it is an 11" and looks almost new.
I'll know more about the condition when I see the clutch plates and disks but so far, other than the yucky oil pan, it looks to be in very good condition.

With that pan something isn't gonna look good..

Jim I met a guy at the Larry Miller show that works for a place in Tucson they rebuild torque converters and has parts. Give Ray a call.
