My Dad was an auto shop teacher. He was one of the judges in the local contest, as well as being responsible for making the problems that the students had to find. As best I remember it was about 1971. I still have a window decal in an old photo album. Ply trouble shooter.jpg

i have the Baltimore Sun newspaper, the whole thing, announcing Nixon's resignation and the July 4th bicentennial printings also.

I know what you mean, I have a newspaper when Presdent Kennedy was shot, when his brother Bobby was shot and when the men landed on the Moon. I have them wrapped in saran wrap and in paper bags. Its interesting that we see the "value" in holding onto things when we were young and here we are 55 yrs+ later and it feels good that we saved a piece of history, good or bad

I was in the 1974 Plymouth Trouble Shooting contest and we had 318 Darts I believe. My memory is not as good as it used to be but it was 318 cars either Darts or Scamps. Had the Carter BBD 1-1/4 carb. We were the first to get our car running and ended up getting third when the combined the written test also. I had a fender cover and T-shirt and all I have left is the patches and the certificate. It was a great time for me. I also still have my trophy. Ron

                  383man,
i went to Howard high and the Howard tech center off rt108. Mr. Ganoe was the auto tech instructor.
he was great, the first year he taught us theory instead of just hanging parts.
those that didn't wash out knew what went wrong and why instead of guessing. taught us how to check alternators and starters and repair them instead of just replacing them. plus a lot of other stuff. when your a young student that went a long way.

Thats cool. My shop teacher at Eastern Voc Tech was Mr Biederman and he was good. I even learnt how to do valve jobs in high school as he taught us how to grind the seats and the valve face. He taught me alot on carbs and all electrical systems. It was like any other class in one way which was you could learn alot if you wanted to and paid attention. But some guys I think were just there to pass time and did not seem to care if they learned anything or not. It was a great time in my life and I tried to learn everything I could.
