1970 Mopar exhaust manifold heat riser

does any body know the correct way to weld on the heat riser plate and which was the bimetallic spring is supposed to go? When welding it on is there supposed to be tension on the spring or no tension?

The kit I bought 25 years ago had decent instructions, which I really don't remember. I do remember the large bimetal spring had tension enough to keep the flap closed when cold. Hope this helps some.

The instructions describe the handling of the spring.
