Wow I actually had one blew the motor and then scrapped it!
 
Considering how cool this is, and the other cars were built by AMC, I wonder what they would of built if they did have the coin to do so?

I'd drive this in a heartbeat, at least once anyway. Never drove one before.
 
I started my career at AMC in 1971 and we had a red AMX 401 4speed as one of the lab cars. We also were working on a mid engine two seater and built two prototypes but never got the funding for production. I remember driving that AMX home a few times what a blast that was. AMC had great ideals but no money to turn prototype into production. I was glad when Chrysler bought us I was then and engineering manager when that happened.
