Here’s a ‘73 Charger I found in a field. How can I tell it’s a 1973? It has the vents on the hood, which was exclusive to 1973 only (between the 1973-74 model year Chargers, 74s didn’t have vents).

From the distance and assuming it wasn't removed, 74s will get the shoulder belt straps hanging from around the "B pillar" post area. Sure the hood without vents will tell also is a 74. Longer rear bumper guards too.

But the shoulder belt straps are fairly easy to spot looking throught the windows without get closer to the car.

If it still has the factory harness underhood, '74's will have a seatbelt interlock bypass switch mounted on the passenger side of the firewall.

This was a '74 only deal not only on Chrysler products, but ALL car manufacturers.

Also, that hood has obviously been primered and possibly replaced.

Could be a 73 hood on a 74 car.
