I bought this 1974 Plymouth Satellite Ex police car to save get it into the hands of the people that know these police cars and would like to have the opportunity to buy and restore a real High Performance Big Block Fuselage Mopar cop car.
The owner passed away leaving these cars sitting in the desert with no keys or title.
He bought this car in 1979 because when it was a in the squad this was the only police car that could run down his “Souped up Hot Rod” so he bought it when it was retired at only 5 years old. The curator remembers the PO talking about “how fast that damn old Plymouth was”
This car has been sitting since 1980! That means it was only 6 years old when it was retired to sit in the sand because of an under hood fire.
So fast forward 40 years... I hear about the car and make a deal, drive 3 hours and look at the cars and see immediately there are no windows. I know what this almost always means (rusted floors) but I was optimistic.
This car is complete for the most part and has only lost a few parts over the years. Amazingly the original 400 4bbl turns over and is not locked up! Of course it retains its 8.75 rear differential with rear sway bar and HD finned brake drums and front disc brake set up
The Thermoquad carb, radiator, fan and shroud, compressor clutch and a few other things were swiped from the car over the years but the Orange dual snorkel air cleaner is still there! The wiring along the fire wall is all toast but it doesn’t seem like it burned too long as the hood doesn’t seem weak or warped but one hood spring is missing so I’m assuming it got hot and stretched.
Windows being gone was the worst thing that could have happened to this car. The interior is complete but all of the plastics are trashed from the AZ heat and the soft materials are ruined from the constant exposure to rain. Front bench seat and rear seat are there but of course need to be restored as well.
Structurally this thing is amazing, front pans are savable but it needs rear pans and under the rear seats replaced along with the majority’s the trunk pan.
I can get a title for the car over night and I did find the trunk key.
I planned on getting it running and driving and take it to the RoadKill Zip Tie Drags I. Tucson AZ and run it with no windows.
I’d also love to Pro-Tour one of these early to mid 70’s B Body Mopar Police Cars!
Super Modern and on the ground ready to carve the turns and pull like a freight train on the straights!
It’s a very good car but I just don’t have the time or place for it in my life right now. Way too many other Irons in the fire.
$1200 Without a title
$1500 With a Clear and Notarized AZ Title in My Name.
I need to sell it quickly because the longer it sits here the more I see how many parts I’d like to use on my other Mopar muscle cars!
