Ok another year and another race. Thanks to 318willrun on FABO for starting this fiasco with his 318 race and then the 2018 small block race.
Please remember this is for fun. If there are any problems with the system please refer those posts to 2020 small block race?
the purpose of this thead is for Sign Up's. Questions related to how many tenths to add/subtract are welcome here. We are trying out some new things. Strokers are allowed this year as well as the 1/8 mile racers. Strokers get a manditory time reduction and the 1/8 mile guys get a conversion factor to multiply or divide by. Hope that works out.
Race lasts from Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2020. This is for fun and there are no prizes. Please post a reply with your cars information and the additions/subtractions based off the penalty box. Once you go to the track and run you can post your time slips and we will put together a list of index to E.T. If you make changes to your car that will affect your index ie add aluminum heads instead of bone stock please post an updated index. As always have fun.

Penalty Box

Nominal Car (TDC) Tenths E.T.
LA 318-2 stock with 2.76 gears in a 3300 lb car (no driver) 100 % street at sea level (dual exh. ok) - 15.9

Weight 3300 lbs no driver. Add + / Subtract - .1 per 100lb (round to the nearest 100) always no driver.

Gear (2.45-2.99) = TDC (3.00-3.49) = -.3 (3.50-3.99) = -.5 (4.00-4.49) = -.7

Tires Height 25 inch - 28.5 inch =TDC 29 inch or more + .2 any D.O.T. tire OK

Vans/Trucks + .3 for wind resistance on any full size Van or Pickup (dakota/durango is NOT full size)

4x4 + .2 for 4x4's without loc-out hubs

Elevation
+.2 every 1000 ft. (use front numeral, no rounding) Do not figure air quality

Blocks/Cubic Inches
318 318 cubic inches is base (TDC)
273 +.6 for using a 273
340 -.5 for using a 340 block
360 -.6 for using a 360 block
Magnums subtract an extra -.3 from the C.I. section if you are using a magnum block

Engine Build (LA 318 2bbl is Base Engine)
Carb/intake -.4 be it a 4bbl, 6bbl, 2x4, FI, 360 2bbl, or anything other than factory 318 2bbl.

Exhaust -.4 for headers

Heads -.4 for worked 318 heads or stock 340/360/stock magnum heads
-.6 for worked 340/360/magnum heads (EQ's fit here)
-.8 for aluminum or W-2 type heads

Cam 318 2bbl cam is base (factory magnum cams fit here)
-.4 for ugraded cams of .480 lift/229 duration @50 or less
-.6 for upgraded cams .481 lift/230 duration @50 or more

Pistons -.4 for any overbore. Has to run pump gas of 93 octane or less to be street

Cranks 273 -340 Must be 3.31 factory stroke. 360 3.58.
-.5 for stroker cranks, this includes stock stroke crank in a block that did not use it from factory.

Tranny
904 904 is what is assumed in the TDC (nominal) car.
727 +.3 tenths for 727
OD/998/999 no penalty. Weight of O.D., and lock up with stock converters offset low 1st gear

Converter -.4 for upgraded street convert of 2200-2900 stall
-.7 for upgraded super street converter of 3000 stall or more

Valve body -.2 for manual valve body

Manual -.3 if you have a clutch

Clarifications
1) Car must be 100% street and remain that way at time trial. Street means pump gas, and cruising 1/2
hour at 55 mph on summer day is no problem. No open headers/slicks.
2) No power adders (boost/nitrous/high octane fuel)
3)Definition of "worked heads" mentioned, means milling over .010, any porting/gasketmatching or
larger valves.
4) Traction devices including DOT drag radials are ok. No Penalty
5) Hood scoops and fresh air are OK. No Penalty
6) Any ignition upgrades are OK. No Penalty
7) Honesty, just be honest. No purse, so keep your integrity
8) + is add. - is subtract
9)1/8 mile conversion factor is 1.5835

67 Coronet - 360 mag, mag heads, 4bbl, 904 w/stock converter, 2.94, weight unknown atm. E.T.

I've looked cover this post several times. Not sure where the "factors" come from. What it looks like is many of them make no sense. Why would any over bore be worth -.4. Or manual trans -.3 Most automatics are quicker. Including altitude without weather makes zero sense. Yet a fresh air is no penalty? Drag radials and race shocks , no penalty? Gear ratio is a penalty but a low gear set is not? No mention of compression ratio? Magnum is penalized, why? Roller cam? What if the LA is running a roller? It seems items focused on make less of a difference in ET than the stuff that isnt penalized. Just my 2 cents

I'd say a to include every possibility would make about a 10 page penalty box that nobody would want to look through. His penalty box gets everyone within a ball park to compete. It's just for funs, remember. And remember, the base car is a stock 318 2bbl, in which the manual would have an advantage with drag radials. I think the overbore penalty is assuming you'll have higher compression ratio than stock, thus the .4 deduction and no mention of compression ratio. Magnums have lighter rotating assembly, better ring position, roller cam, and better compression from the factory, so they should get a deduction compared to the LA.

To many assumptions. Limited facts. Major factors are excluded. Minor items are a big penalty. The entire deal is do inaccurate in my opinion the results are useless.

ok. Not a requirement to join. No cost for those that join. I joined the race on FABO site. It's just for funs.. :)

The penalty box was written up by @318willrun on FABO. Before the start of the race we had a discussion thread up for several months for input. It's for fun and not manditory
