2026 Toyota Hilux Launches in the U.S.: 201 HP Turbo‑Diesel, Rugged 4×4 Power, $32,000 Price

I put a modified ECU on my 2014 3litre D4D about a 60HP increase but with 3 burly brothers in it & a tray full of gear the Auto started slipping in top gear i was told there is an additive to help stop the slip .
I took the booster off & it is OK i use my new RAM limited on country runs no problems so far 6,000 km down

The price of the Toyota used 3 litre turbo deisel shot up the new 2.8 is gutless
That is why the actual weight of this vehicle is going to matter.
The power numbers shown are not that far off a 90's era 318 magnum. No one calls 5.2 Dakotas from that era "gutless". But the Dakota is under 4k lbs. If this new Hilux is in the 4k lbs area it will be just fine. If it is "safety approved" 5300lbs like a lot of stuff out there nowdays it will be like driving an early 80's full size car. Hold it to the floor and listen to the engine labor and wonder where all the power is going. Well you won't have to wonder, but you know what I mean.
A 6 speed manual can make up a little bit for extra fat with gear ratio but not 1000lbs of bloat worth.
