Hi guys, over here in the UK wheels are increasingly hard to find.
I can get Torq Thrust in 7 x 15 but only with 3.75” backspace.
I’ve measured and checked but would rather hear from somebody’s own experience.
The tires would be 235/60/15 which is about 9.25” wide, nothing crazy.
This is for the rear wheels, fronts are fine

I don't think you'll have any issues whatsoever with a 7" wheel. I'm also thinking those dimensions are going to be pretty damn close to a stock wheel.

Well, the car came to me with 14 x 7 Magnums on it and they have plenty of space but also a 4.5” backspace. I guess pushing the new wheels out 3/4” shouldn’t be a major concern, but many threads mention just how tight the 67 rear wheel wells are.

On my RT I ran 4 1/2 BS on 7 x 15 and they were tight with a 9 inch tire.

Really? That’s a problem then. I have a pair of 14 x 6 rims I’ve offered up and that leaves 2.25” between the tyre edge and the arch. Using 9” 235 wide tyres.
Pics make it look tighter than it is.

I have a 1967 R/T and run 235-70's on the back. They are not quite as short and fat as 60 series. They clear fine on my 15 x 7 rims with 3.75 back spacing.

Thanks that’s useful to know. I’ll look up the tyre difference.

Shouldn't much difference. For example looking at a Cooper, 235/70 is 9.4
235/60 is 9.1

I run a 15x8 wheel with 4.75 backspace. 275/60/15 drag radials, no issues. Car does have super stock leaf springs which brings the rear up an inch.

Your problem is not the lip.

There is a protrusion on the upper part of the outer wheel housing.

A wide, tall tire will contact that before it contacts the lip of the wheel opening.

...and you can't really pound it out because that's where the C pillar structure is mounted.

Sure, I’ve looked up and seen that issue, hence looking at 60 series tyres. On reflection I might just opt for a pair of rear steels with correct backspace. Too much money to waste if I buy pricy wheels with incorrect fitment.
