I'm trying to figure out which is the best size of rear tire to go with on my '65 Coronet. I currently have a 315/45-17 tire out back which is a super nice tire but I can't find them in that size anymore. Looks like I need to go to a 19 or 20 inch wheel in order to find a big tire with a 28 inch diameter. Anyone know of other alternatives?

M&h has some 325/45/17 not sure if that’ll work for you but thought I’d throw it out there.

Mickey Thompson has some interesting sizes in radial designs I just bought some 12.50x 18's for one of my cars and matching 10.50's for the front. They look and ride very well.

How about 15" ? Being "Old School", the Mid-'60s B-Bodies need them for Character. I'm getting used to the later '60s, and early '70s with the larger size Modern wheel & tire combos, since they do make a difference with the handling, combined with an updated suspension...

Yeah, not even close.

I have no intention of ever going back to 15 inch rims and tiny brakes. I like the look of the 17 inch rims that I've had on the car for the past 20 years but it appears to be impossible to find replacements for my existing tires so I think I need to upgrade.

I run 315/35/17 on my totally stock suspension and 5" backspaced 9" wide aluminum Rallye wheels. The factory should have sold the cars this way.
Toyo Proxes TQ drag radials.

Go 345/30-19 tires if you can fit them. Several choices of brands to choose from. Z06 vettes and Vipers use them.

Do you have any threads on your car, I'd like to see more... she's a beauty! Same goes for you Andyf, I like what I'm seeing.
Not that I can think of, but here's some more pix:

Have you done anything modifying room for your tires? Tubs? Shorten your rear end? I am running 255 in the back and am close to rubbing, I believe my offset could be better for my rims but I want to go bigger later and want to know whats the most I can fit under those 65's without modifications
