Anyone know the factory specs of a 65 383 4bbl camshaft in regard to advertised duration? Not interested in anything purple shaft...factory specs data only. thanks...

This might help:
Same Camshafts
* 383/270 HP '2-Barrel'

* 383/330 HP 'Super Commando'
The 1968 ~ 383/330 HP and 383/300 HP 'Super Commando' Camshaft
Lift............. 431"/.443"
Duration.... 256*/260* Duration
Overlap..... 32* Overlap
Valve Springs........ #134 lbs. Valve-Closed / #208 lbs. Valve-Open

The 1968 383/335 HP 'Road Runner' and 440/375 'Super Commando'
utilized the same Camshaft.
Lift............. 450"/.458"
Duration..... 268*/284*
Overlap....... 46*
Valve Spring Load-Rate....... #129 lbs. Valve-Closed / #250 lbs. Valve-Open

Valve Springs (I use Isky)
Compu-Cams.....#911-16...........{#122 lbs. Valve-Closed ~ #309 lbs. Valve-Open} (open depends on lift:)
or
Mopar Performance...#P3690933
Are nearly identical in Load-Rate Spring Pressure.
Both are designed for Hydraulic Camshafts with Lifts between .450" and .500"

thank you......I believe the specs of the 68/335HP to be what I am looking for...not a hot rod...not to race...just a mild performer for my own enjoyment...running cast iron intake and cast iron logs so the split duration suits the build. appreciate the quick reply.

Check out the Comp 21-305-4 stick. I'm running it in my recent stock 440 build. So far so good.

Yep, that's what my 66-300 had before I stuffed a Hughes 2330 to replace it. Good Luck

He asked for a 65.
66 was the closest I had.
Probably could have made that clearer.

65 and earlier data seems a bit more scarce to come by....the 66 is close enough and as stated I think the profile of the original RR 383 335HP is more to my liking...they had a terrific sound to them and were good street machines right out of the box.

Stock 383 440 camshaft casting no. is 454
hi performance 383 and 440 casting no. is 574
There was also an early cam no. of 722,
basically the same as the 454 casting no.

1966 383 4 BBL

Lift............. 425"/.437"
Duration.... 256*/260* Duration
Overlap..... 32* Overlap
This is also known as the "No Cam, Cam".

"hey does that thing have a cam in it?"

"no."

"ok I didn't think so. Thanks. "
