At long last, I'm finishing up a project on a stroked / bored 383 six pack in a 1968 Charger R/T (449 cu. in.).
(It's an automatic and I've properly solved the kickdown linkage issues already.)

Someone, somewhere must have built a low block (B engine) with a six pack (six barrel).

My issue is the throttle cable. The 440 six pack throttle cable I bought from Mancini Racing quite a few years ago it is really too long.
While I've been able to make it fit, it's bent too sharply in a couple of places and I've had to add a smaller diameter throttle return spring
inside the normal six pack spring to the carb to get the throttle to close to idle. It works but it's not ideal.

Anyone have a REASONABLE suggestion for a somewhat shorter throttle cable that still allows the center carb to open fully?

Thanks.

Advertise on this site for a cable of the length you want. For A bodies site also. Or spend the money for a Lokar universal cable.

I used small block b-body throttle cable on RB engine 6bbl with no problem.

Your B engine is not as tall but same distance from firewall.

I would avoid the Lokar products.

My suggestion is use a 440 six pack throttle cable. R413’s idea sounds cheaper. I found that at least “some” 4-barrel cables don’t move far enough to allow the carburetors to open completely (can only get about 75% of full throttle)

Did the small block B-Body cable allow the throttle to have complete travel from idle to full open on the center carb?

Do you know where a small block B-Body cable can be obtained? (NOT going the Lokar route.)

Thanks.

I noticed the addendum at the bottom of your reply about your physical issues. My suggestion is that you shouldn't let the wife beat you up so much. (LOL)

Measure your cable, you just need a shorter cable. Don't worry about if it's a 4 barrel or a two barrel, they move the same distance. Mega Parts carries different lengths for different applications or cars. So Measure yours and get a shorter cable.

Six Pack Performance out of New Mexico told us for a 383 six pack, do you want to use the 440 6 pack cable.

Yes it does, no problem since 1989.
