Hey gang...

Not around here much ( that'll change for sure ) lately... As some may know, I've had this Daytona of mine for quite awhile. Yes, it "was" for sale for a long time ( in an effort to get one that was closer in looks like the one my Dad bought new when I was about 5 years old ). But, alas, my Daytona never sold and the two I wanted that were like Dad's sold. So, instead of chasing something like Dad's, I decided to keep mine and let my kids "remember Dad's"............

So, with that being said, I started a quest to make my Daytona more like Dad's ( a Hemi Daytona according to him ). Being that there's no way in Hell I'll be able to afford a real XX29J, I'll go for the second option; shoving a real 426 Hemi into a real Charger Daytona........

Over the last 8 months, I have started the endeavor of collecting parts, and most important, the motor.

As of today, I have acquired:

1. 426 Hemi with 440 rotating assembly ( less rotating mass is a good thing & all 440 pulleys and convertors work just fine ).
2. Hemi K-member and brackets ( made a decision to do this over aftermarket adaptive brackets )
3. TTI Polished Ceramic 2 1/8 headers
4. QTP electronic dumps ( for obvious reasons  )
5. Reproduction Hemi AFB's from Scott Smith at Harms Automotive
6. Chrome air cleaner
7. MSD 6AL ( permanent distributor is up in the air but may get the Prestolites converted to electronic from Brad
8. Complete Hemi power brake booster and offset bracket assembly from Wayne ramman..
9. misc items like brackets, fuel lines, positive battery cables, grounds, etc..
10. Beefer torsion bars ( Mopar Performance .96 over the OEM .92 )

I will be ordering other things here and there and hope to get this puppy installed by the end of March and for sure, prior to the Talladega AeroWarriors Meet...

Things I need to address are the transmission ( will retain the GearVendor ), replace the complete brake and fuel system lines ( already have those ), starter and engine harness.

Are the wing cars really coming to a meet at Dega? I live about 12 miles from track. Cant wait to see all the winged warriors in person.

LOL

"Jealousy comes in many flavors...for 2014 make mine a 1969 Daytona and could you sprinkle a Hemi on the top please?"

Did some detailing today ( prefect day since it rained most of it )...

1. freshened up the valve covers with a new coat of paint
2. installed the fuel line and pump ( need to get fittings )
3. painted the thermostat housing I got ( proper one with the right casting number )
4. installed the driver's side motor mount insulator and painted it ( as it was on the motor when painted; of course, after I bought another one, I found the original I had all along sitting in the cabinet...... ). Oh well, now I have an extra......

5. installed the alternator with, what I believe it, the proper pulley ( not the late model dual pulley you get on stuff now )..... Along with that, the brackets as well.

Looks good regardless...

May not be 100% perfectly OEM correct, but it's not half bad either............. !cid__ResizedImage_1394927964951_.jpg !cid__ResizedImage_1394927978247_.jpg
