Just want to be sure that I have the proper mounting for the engine stand.
Using the top two 3/8" threaded with grade 8 bolts and the two lower 7/16"
non thread with grade 8 bolts and nuts.

My concern is the lower driver side mount ( starter) strong enough as the block
has the cast cut out for the starter. Don't want to bust the block.

The only other option is to use the other 3/8" threaded. Looks much more stable
    using the lower. Sent pix.

    Any advise?

I think the hole around the starter is strong enough, absolutely the most stable. But after looking at your picture, you need to get the tube of the stand up higher on the engine. If you plan on tearing it down and assembling it on the stand you need to center the weight better. On my stand, it was even harder to get the arms spread out while balancing the engine weight.

Right on! Attachment tube need to up closer to the cam bore. Long arms on the bottom.

And them suckers are heavy! Don't use a El cheapo stand. Removing intake and heads before mounting it on the stand can help.

Look around to see if you can find one of these Mopar big block engine stands. The block will bolt right to the stand so you don't have to mess with the four arms.

I always use the 3/8 threaded holes - 4 of them. Mount the head first then hoist the thing up to the stand.

Cheap stand and my 383 bolted on. Loaded in my truck box and driven 30 miles on bumpy roads over to my paint man and then back.. not an issue!

The bottom two and two on the top has always worked for me. For the bottom hole on the passenger side I use a bigger bolt with a nut and big washer. Don't overthink it, it just needs to be firmly attached..

Judging by the straps you seemed more concerned about losing the stand than losing the engine !!

The original posters method is fine. Same way I do my Mega block which is way heavier than a stock block. Never an issue. Just make sure the rest of the stand is a quality piece.

Wow.. Winternet has set in! I suspect all you guys rent a box truck to move your engines, in case you forget how to drive.

Bolt a 3"larger height and width 1/2" thick plate on that face 1/2" or 9/16"<better, counter sunk bolts. Counter sunk bolts make face smooth. Now drill 4 new holes for your mounting arms so the cam plug can centered.

No sir, but I pull the head from the stand and transport them with the engine on a tire or something.

                          I use a transport stand.
About 30 bucks at summit or you can fab one up in an afternoon with some angle.
