5.7 Truck waterpump

About to install my Heater Control Valve and need to know how to figure out which is the outlet and which is the inlet on the water pump. I know I can pull the hoses, start it and watch but there goes my antifreeze on the ground and I don't have any cats to lick it up for me. Anyone know for SURE? It will be a project to move the hoses if I am wrong. Thanks!

If memory serves me, the bottom tube is return and top is pressure.
