64 Polara Console (automatic) removal help

Need to know how do I remove console to change burned shift cable (header pipe heat). How do I remove console to get to the inners of console? Trans shop clamped the cable too close to the collector pipe. I need some type of heat shield. Header wrap was not enough protection.
408 B Block is a tight engine compartment.

4- 6 screws along the sides under the carpet 2 maybe in the console box You'll have to remove the shift ball and then the top plate to remove the console itself!
