Hello All,

Looking for a ‘65 BB 727 tail shaft housing as the previous owner of mine knocked of a mounting ear. Preferably someone in SoCal, but if you got a tail shaft you’d sell me I’ll pay for shipping. If you have a whole transmission core in SoCal I’d be interested too.

Thanks all.

I think ‘66 and later are different.

@dvw can I bug you to interject? Do you know if the tailshaft housing on a ‘65 BB cable shift is the same as a ‘66?

think I have one from a 66. Would that work?
No, it will not.... 65 still has the park cable mechanism incorporated in the tailshaft, 66 does not.
I have some, but am very far from you..

Oh forgot to mention....
If you are going to hunt something locally, you won't need to hunt for BB only 65 tailstock. Small block 727`s are the same, as far as most internal parts go, AND the tailshaft and stock. Just the main case is obviously different to bolt up to a small motor. You may have good luck finding one too, since there were a whole lot of 318 cars made in `65 and most of them got 727's, not 904's like the 273 and six cyl cars.

Awesome, that widens the search.

Cast in '64, for '65 model year trans.....check numbers against yours to be sure. I don't see any repairs, helicoils or stripped threads. Thx, Lefty71
