I'm trying to get the heat-A/C system in my 65 coronet to work right. Everything under the hood is OK but there are issues inside the car. I have no function on the med or high position of the blower, which are the positions that activate the Compressor. The resistor looks a little rough but seems to check out. Not sure about the switch.
The blower works on low and if I hotwire the resistor the compressor clicks on and blower speeds up, (both med and high position). All the vacuum positions are working fine.....
So far I have not been able to locate a replacement resistor or switch.

Does anyone have knowledge of this system....?

Thanks, Will.

65 a/c

I think your resistor is burned into, take it out and look. If not possibly switch, but i think resistor.

I am also trying to get my 64 AC system to work properly.
I have disasembled my underdash system / switches etc. If mine has a resistor I haven't come across it yet.

I'm pretty sure 64 and 65 are alike. It is mounted in the heater-A/C box at about left center. Mine has three mounting screws. There should be three connectors.... two three gang and one single.

Good news.... With the help of a ohm meter, test light and a jumper wire I was able to isolate the problem to the switch.
After bending the retainer tabs and disassembling the back part of the switch, cleaning and some adjustment everything works now.

Still interesting in a new switch though, (64-65 AC)

R-12 to R-134

I got the controls all sorted out.... Now I want to convert To R-134. Does anyone offer a seal kit for this conversion...(65 Coronet w/factory air).
