Guys,

Hope all is going well with the projects! Couple of quick questions on Steering Columns.

In the attached photo does anyone know correct color paint for the area circled and pointed to?

Also is there a way to replace the lower steering shaft seal also in this picture without pulling the steering wheel out?

Thank you in advance, much appreciated.

The coupling will need to be removed (pin pressed out) and reassembled (with pin centered) to R&R seal. The rubber boot should be left natural black and lower plate was galvanized when new. Don't neglect lubing the shift mechanism inside the boot!

Thanks Mike much appreciated! Someone needs to invent the two piece seal for 62 to 65!

Does anyone know if some on is possibly making the big rubber boot that covers the shift linkage?

Thanks again!

Jeff

You can put a sealed bearing behind the tube end seal that will strengthen the shaft. It fits inside the tube and the shaft goes through it.

You might try Steele Rubber Products. I think they will reproduce rubber items if they have a decent one to pattern from. Being this is s one year only item it may be a shot in the dark.
