Pretty sure I've figured these plastic clips out but wanted to verify. At first I thought the clips were installed on the trim, set on the car and the peg inserted underneath to lock them in place. But after looking at them some more it looks like they are set on the fender, the plastic peg inserted from the top and then the trim snapped down over the top of them. Correct?
Another curiosity on the trim. My trim is pretty fresh looking topside and underneath but of very light gauge aluminum. I have a couple spare pieces I picked up that are well use and in need of restoration and they seem of heavier gauge, stiffer aluminum. The ones on the car are so thin there are a couple small splits along the top edge where the metal was stretched too thin during their forming. Was there a reproduction of this trim available at one time years ago, which might be what's on the car? If not, then I guess there might have been some different suppliers. But it looks too fresh to be original and no sign of having been re-anodized.
