Hey D1esel, hope your trip was good! As a few here have eluded to, I'd recommend getting a proper mechanical fan.. the one you have isnt doing much, and quite possibly blocking airflow at speed. I use those on my drag cars. They are just good enough for cool downs
 
To me it looks like you are not moving enough air, in fact I think you are blocking air flow. Get a proper 18-18 1/2" fan. Possibly a thermal clutch too.

Is that the right size rad?
It's a 69 C body radiator for a 440 automatic. It's listed as a 28" radiator. It should be capable of proper cooling. Look closely at the mounting when adding a fan, because you need the fan centered in the shroud. Also use a proper size spacer so that all but a half inch f the fan is inside of the shroud.

I only try to comment on what I have experienced. Or have been taught.
I have posted this at sometime somewhere.
My wife had a radiator shop owner for a client. Well regarded in the community.
His recommendation was to change daily driver anti-freeze I think every two years. Possibly have the block flushed.
Use distilled water.
Our actual experiences.
1993 made a trip to a Charger Meet in Aurora Mo.
Motor was just finished in a 1967 383 auto, no shroud, but had the 22” rad recored to 3 row. 195 thermostat. Engine was assembled the night before we left. Sat in stop and go traffic at Kansas City to cross the river. Temperatures over 100F. Never found out until later that it only had water in the system. No problems occurred.
The 440 67 auto 26” 2 core rad Charger we have was driven to the same car show pulling an aluminum crank up tent trailer. It never overheated without a shroud.
My thoughts are.
If these cooling systems were so POORLY designed, how could Chrysler possibly remained in business and not gone bankrupt!
I promote factory, maybe some performance work could change things?
 
Cooling system issues with a Mopar are not a design flaw. I have never had a problem with a stock Mopar cooling system that couldn't be fixed by making sure everything was working and installed as designed. Most issues are of human making and 50-60 years of neglect or poor mechanics.

If you are adding 100 plus cu inches of displacement to and boring the block 60 over or more, you will need to improve your cooling system too, because you are creating a lot more heat. I see Chrysler adding AC to help cool supercharged high HP gen III Hemi's. My motto is if you add serious HP or cu inches, improve your brakes and cooling accordingly. I like a little more HP as well as the next guy, but it means improving everything else.
 
There's a correct fan and clutch for sale down in mechanical. Not sure that the fan clutch will work. Fan blade is correct.
Get a Flowkooler pump if you can.
 
There is a reproduction one available. Hayden #2947 would be your clutch drive.

Update on my heating problem. I replaced the water pump with a 6 blade impeller as opposed to an 8 blade original one. I removed the electric fan,installed a 7 blade 18".
It now runs at 180 around town. On the highway it creeps up to 210 but begins to drop as soon as I get out of the throttle.

A fan blade should be half the thickness of the blade in the shroud and half out for it to work correctly.
 
Testing done on another website showed no appreciable difference in temp with fan all the way in the shroud to half out of the shroud.
