Hi,
I have a 67 Coronet convertible w/440 (fun car to drive). The trunk lid springs are not installed properly. It's amazing how heavy that decklid is. I've tried them in every possible combination and the only way that makes sense would require twisting the torsion spring a half of a turn to load (180 degrees). That seems excessive. Does anyone have a picture of how these springs are installed? Any other helpful tips would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

found this online maybe it will help

If you need some close ups, let me know. I've got a '67 Belvedere convert.

The trunk spring setup isn't much different if there is any difference and they work the same as a hardtop or a sedan does and it's not really hard to figure out how they hook up. The last time I did one, I hooked it into the hinge first and then left the other end hang behind the mount and then put the one for the other hinge in and hooked it into the first hole...the one further to the front and then did the other on the same. If the lid doesn't want to stay up, then move it to the next hole. I wore gloves to help avoid getting pinched. They are not real easy to work with but it's not impossible. I'm the world's worst in figuring out 'mechanical puzzles' and if I can do it, anybody can! :D

Thanks for responding. Sorry I didn't get back sooner (been sick). You're right, it appears obvious how they are supposed to go, but to put them that way would require turning the end 180 degrees to load the tension... Is that correct? Seems like it would be awful tight and not possible to do by hand.
Yes chrisd, I would appreciate if you could post a closeup picture of one side, then I would know that I'm not going to overload these springs by doing it wrong.
Thanks again.

I'm stuck at work till after dark. I'll get some pics and post them in the morn.

Sorry it took so long to get these. Work is brutal. Hope it helps
