67 Plymouth Dashboard lights

How difficult, if at all possible is it to change out the dashboard lights on a 1967 Plymouth Satellite. Can I do it by going underneath the dash? I want to pull the existing bulbs and replace with LED's. What are the numbers for the bulbs and how many are there? As always many thanks in advance.

Years ago I changed the bulbs by reaching behind the gauge cluster so it can be done. I think theres 8 bulbs. I believe they're 194

It can be done from under the dash, but much easier, at least for me, to take the cluster screws out, disconnect the speedometer cable and slide the cluster out enough to take the bulbs out. Old age takes it toll.

It might be a dumb question, but are the screws easy to get to even on a 67 coronet cluster?

67 Coronet cluster is a little harder to work with as it has the radio to deal with in the cluster panel.

Changing the bulbs from under the dash with the cluster installed is not as difficult in the 1967 Satellite as some other cars, but it is tight and not particularly easy. I have done some under the dash on my 1967 GTX.

There are six cluster illumination lights that originally used 158 bulbs. The two turn signal bulbs, the high beam indicator, and the oil pressure light also use 158 bulbs.

The following image shows the back of the cluster with the bulb locations marked as indicated:

• Red circle = cluster illumination
• Green circle = turn signal indicator
• Violet circle = oil pressure warning lamp
• Yellow circle = high beam indicator

Definitely possible with the dash in but having taking my cluster out a number of times recently (fuel gauge issue) I have no doubt it’s quicker to just remove the dash and do it. It’s not at all difficult or time consuming and it definitely helped lowering the steering column on my ‘66. As stated, 194 bulbs

If you have factory AC I would probably pull the cluster loose. They are accessible from behind without AC.

For me, when my lights were not bright enough, I went with 194 bulbs and Crackedback headlight harness. This brightened everything up for me, in three cars. I personally did not like the leds, tried them in one car and removed them. Maybe I had the wrong leds, but did not like them.
