I'd love to find a pair of these headrests, wouldn't we all!

In lieu of finding a pair to buy; is anyone interested in lending me one so that I could (1) either cast a (non-destructive) mold and/or 3D scan the headrest?

I've already deconstructed a few 68-70 headrests and fabricated headrest rods/mounting plate. My goal is to come up with a mold for producing 67 headrests.

Thanks.

I have none for sale. If you are setup and ready to go ahead with the plan you described, I could be able to loan you one to promote the hobby.

Jerry - this would be great. Just what I was hoping. I’ll start a conversation with you to work out details. Thank-you ever so much. Al

Diplomat style headrests are way off the mark I suppose...

These are 67 only head rests...

Glad you can lend one, then that saves me trying to send them across the border and getting them back. This virus thing sure creates problems.

My 66 Charger buckets have no provision for headrests. Nothing I can do to facilitate 67 headrests is there

To my knowledge, only 67 bucket seat backs (charger and coronet) have the holes for the headrests.

Any 67 B body with bucket seats can have headrests. If the car was not equipped with headrests, there is now a kit available to make provisions for headrests. This kit will work on 66 as well. The problem I see is finding the headrests. Pricey conversion but doable.

That is correct. The metal bracket for the top of the back already has the holes for attaching the hardware.

Redbeard, my 66 buckets wouldn't have the bracket you are referring to... would they? Jerry, can you give me info on obtaining the "kit". It'll work on 66 buckets eeh? Thanks, -TIM

@AJReigart actually bought a kit from PG Classic. And @RedBeard covered you with the link.

Yep. The PGC kit has all the parts needed to install headrests onto 67 bucket seats (and probably bench seats). The issue is that the 67 headrest posts are unique (headrest shape and mounting posts are narrower) AND no one makes repro headrests. I have narrowed a few other headrest mounting posts; I personally just don’t like the look. I’m experimenting with making 67 headrest clones.

Just feeling my 66 buckets, there is nothing rigid (bracket etc) that I could use the kit it doesn't seem. Headrests off 76 Volare bench seat sure look the part but you think the posts are wider spacing heh. I suppose I could tear the Volare seat apart but I'm hesitant to wreck my seats trying to make the Volare set up work

The headrest posts need to be 7 1/2” center to center wide to fit a 67 bucket seat back. Posts are 1/2” solid steel (cold rolled), slight bend and notched (height adjustment stops). Most post assemblies have a plate spot welded atop the horizontal section to provide more surface area to affix the post assembly to headrest head.

As far as I can tell, most headrests of the era are molded (some type of rubber). Headrest was liquid foam filled after post assembly was inserted into molded headrest head. The foam adhered to the inside of headrest and the post assembly.

If the Volare headrest post spacing wasn't the same as 67, its irrelavant if I used everything from the Volare bench seat. My 66 seat would have to be torn down to a skeleton to try it. I'm no seat specialist LOL

I LOVE a 66 Coronet as Dad had a 66 2 door post Deluxe he bought new. Gold on Gold. Beautiful car. 318, the car is still in existance I think. Bought in Black River Falls, Wis, I last saw it in Iola car show. All origional yet except 440 in it. Bench seat, column auto
