Any thoughts on replacement supply? Mine is less than desirable but the places I have checked only seem to have ralley dash pieces for above the glove box. Could restore but has a chip at the top right hand side mounting screw. IMG_20190608_155312.jpg

I thought you made contact with @SoCal440GTX. He’s reproducing these for the 68/69 GTXs. He’s your man.

Check out Tony’s Parts web page, he is about to release a reproduction of these.

There are a couple of people that restore them. Go on e-bay and look up the piece, they run an e-bay ad showing before and after. Basically they repaint the back and polish the front.

There is another way...your colors on the back look OK in the picture, nothing that an overspray of black on the back wouldn’t fix. I don’t see any cracks or missing chunks that will show with the trim installed. The front is just plastic and can be polished with a progressively fine grade polishing compound (like they use to restore headlight lense clarity on new cars). I did this on mine and was surprised how good they came out.

They Don’t repaint the back.....they can only do limited touch ups if that. I had IS restore/polish mine so I know first hand what they can and can’t do.....

To the OP I don’t see what’s so bad with yours. The chip will be hidden by the trim and the haze can be polish out. You can talk to Tom at Instrument Specialties and email pictures to see if that’s possible. Which I think yours is viable.....I would always take the gamble on an original piece versus a reproduction that who knows in what year it will become available....they always say coming soon...

Looks good, forgot the trim covers it. I'll polish it up and that should help. My stereo one is cracked. Granite tightened the screws to much!
