The problem with plating pot metal is that the small speck will turn into a huge cavity that is very labor intensive to fill. By the time that the cavity along with dozens of others are filled and ground smooth, much of the characteristic body lines are lost. That is why but the very best plating shops will not even touch pot metal pieces as they will literally come full of pits when the original plating is removed.
With as expensive as NOS parts are, it is still cheaper in most instances to pay up and buy NOS when available over having to plate a pot metal piece.

$150 CLAMS EACH to plate the perimeters!
Guess ill have pitted ones for a while....
