Just curious? Was having a side impact on these old chargers an issue back in the day? I'm having visions of the Ford pinto crash tests in slow motion thoughts. Or is this bracket for something else? I've have several chargers in the past, most of them were 70's but I don't Remember these brackets.......I'm probably getting .. Alzheimer's? LOL!
I love this website! I'm always learning something new!
Bracket was added on 70 models....supposed to keep filler neck from slipping out of tank if impacted on the side. At least that's the explanation I have heard. Believe all 70 chargers had it.
I thought that was a resonater bracket for the single exhaust cars (pollution control) that started in 1970? It kept the resonator from getting up close & comfy with the gas tank. Don't really know but know I'm interested to find out.
