My car has this added flange mounted to the underside of the cowl on the right side where the heater box mates up to the cowl. It is held on by 2 J bolts. Is this flange for a heater delete car? i am trying to install my non-AC heater box and it will not rotate up into position. It looks like if i remove the added flange it would rotate up into place. The second picture is from a YouTube video where someone was replacing a heater core on a B body. Thank you for any help!

Is your car originally and AC car ???

That looks like the remains of the flexible duct for a factory air car

Take that off to fit your heater box. It is not for a "heater delete" - those used the same box as the left side with a couple mods and a different grill and did not need anything extra to attach it.

The top one looks more like what I remember on my 66 with no AC. It’s been to long since I had the heater/AC box out of my 67 but I would bet it was like the bottom picture.
